Techno-economic Comparison Between the Parabolic Trough Collector and a Novel Rotatory Fresnel Collector

The SunDial is an advanced rotary Fresnel concentrator designed to offer cost-effective industrial heat at medium temperatures in low and high latitudes [1]. There are two designs for the SunDial: one with two tracking axes suitable for high latitudes (SunDial-HL), and the other, designed for low latitudes, incorporates only azimuthal tracking (SunDial-LL). This study aims to compare the SunDial with its primary competitor: the parabolic trough collector (PTC).

Abstract

The SunDial is an advanced rotary Fresnel concentrator designed to offer cost-effective industrial heat at medium temperatures in low and high latitudes [1]. There are two designs for the SunDial: one with two tracking axes suitable for high latitudes (SunDial-HL), and the other, designed for low latitudes, incorporates only azimuthal tracking (SunDial-LL). This study aims to compare the SunDial with its primary competitor: the parabolic trough collector (PTC).
