Conceptual design of structure for the handling and repair of domes or noses radome on Airbus aircraft line 320

The optimal state of the nose the radome or nose of the aircraft or dome is essential for the proper functioning of an aircraft, since inside it is the radar, the element through which the pilot knows the course of the aircraft. The nose radome, an element that constitutes the outer part of the aircraft fuselage, is exposed to all types of damage, from line and hangar strikes to bird strikes, lightning strikes, and humidity. The action of nose maintenance the purpose of radome is to maintain the optimum certificate of any aircraft to maintain continued airworthiness; in addition to a safe and reliable state of service and operation. Currently, aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul workshops repair noses radome of the A320 family of aircraft with a structure that was designed for the transport of these elements, but not for their repair, which generates a series of inconveniences when it is intervened. The objective of this research is to carry out the conceptual design of a structure for the handling and repair of domes or nose radome on Airbus aircraft of the 320 line, which allows multiple maintenance activities to be carried out in a nose radome, which is versatile, safe and meets the requirements of users, to carry out inspection, repair and maintenance activities of this component. For this purpose, the Pahl & Beitz methodology was implemented in its first two design phases which culminated with the operability, structural, and function requirements, and a classification of the design requirements; subsequently, the generation and selection of conceptual design alternatives, which allowed generating viable solution proposals. For the conceptual design solution, the device was divided into three subsystems: 1) structure subsystem, 2) positioning subsystem, and 3) rotation and clamping subsystem; which led to the generation of five design concepts that were quantitatively evaluated to select
