Protocol for product specification and quality control for PGI/PDO protection under EU framework and labels for the valorisation of food products and identity (D5.18)
This deliverable includes two draft protocols for product specification and quality control for PGI/PDO protection under the EU framework and labels for the valorisation and identity of food products. In particular, a single document has been drafted for the proposal of a PGI in Morocco, concerning extra virgin olive oil produced in the Beni Mellal geographical area, as described in the deliverable itself. For the preparation of the protocol, several olive oil samples of different producers from the identified area were analysed by UNIBO and ENAM to evaluate their main quality and compositional parameters. The results obtained were useful to define some specific characteristics for this product, necessary to develop a product specification document. Regarding Teff flour from Ethiopia, a draft protocol has been outlined based on the information available in the literature and on some analyses carried out by UoM on Teff flour samples from the described area.
