D2.1 Analysis report on recent climatic characteristics and climatic types for stecci case study sites

WP2 tasks oversee the co-creation process and coordinate testing the available datasets and determining the most applicable research approach. In that process, the specific roles are already recognised as achieving the most time- and cost-effective methodology, namely: ● Key literature reviewing and identifying a possible extreme impact of climate change, such as intense precipitation of various forms, flooding and landslide collapse on stećak tombstones and other stone sacral structures; ● Analysis of long-term and contemporary ERA5-Land and ECAD gridded datasets and station data that are closest to the selected for defining the most recent climatic characteristics for the areas of selected sites for monitoring and conservation; ● Vulnerability assessment: A vulnerability assessment involves identifying the specific risks that climate change poses to a site. This assessment should consider the site’s location, exposure to extreme weather events, and susceptibility to erosion or flooding. This will be done using station data and remote sensing techniques; ● Compiling and optimising the climate GIS database for the areas of selected sites for monitoring and conservation. In this way, at the very start, this task will provide necessary repository data for the next research stages.
