Management Of Migraine Headache With Homoeopathic Medicines In Menstruating Females: A Clinical Study

Migraine is a common primary cause of headache disorder, affecting 15% of women and 6% of men. It is a benign disorder characterised by recurrent headache episodes, nausea, vomiting, and neurological dysfunction. Migraine typically begins between 10 and 40 years old and has three times more incidences in women compared to men. It consists of paroxysmal attacks of headache, nausea, vomiting, and an aura of neurological effects. Homoeopathic medicines, which produce similar symptoms to migraine headaches, have been found to reduce the intensity and frequency of migraine episodes if administered based on symptom similarity. Research studies have shown that these medicines also improve the quality of life for migraine patients. The treatment method is ideally based on the individualisation of each patient's case and the use of homoeopathic drugs. Methodology-45 female patients from Bharati Vidyapeeth Homoeopathic Hospital, who were either newly diagnosed or pre-diagnosed, participated in the study. Based on the similarity of their symptoms, specific homoeopathic medications were administered to treat them. Individuals with neurological conditions, hysterectomies, pregnant or nursing mothers, or patients with systemic diseases were not accepted. To take part in the trial, patients had to complete consent forms. Result-The study found that 68.88% of patients experienced a moderate improvement in their physical health quality, with the most common age group being 20-30 years. Graphite, Natrum Muriaticum, and Nux Vomica were the most effective. Conclusion-88.9% of migraine patients experienced significant improvement, indicating the potential of homoeopathy as a non-invasive treatment option for menstruating women.
