Circulatory Pattern Pathology: Disease as a Manifestation of Systemic Disruption

Circulatory Pattern Pathology: Disease as a Manifestation of Systemic Disruption(Inspired by the classical doctrines of traditional Chinese medicine) This publication presents the foundational framework for a new pathological model inspired by the classical doctrines of traditional Chinese medicine, particularly the circulation-based understanding of health and disease represented by the four essential elements: Wind (external environment), Water (fluid dynamics), Qi (informational signaling), and Blood (material metabolism). In this model, disease is interpreted not as a static entity, but as a dynamic manifestation of disruption in circulatory harmony—quantified as velocity mismatch (Δv ≠ 0)—among these four domains. These mismatches give rise to observable clinical patterns, which are classified here as structured interference types. A diagnostic matrix is proposed that illustrates how different combinations of circulatory disruption (e.g., Wind × Qi, Water × Blood) correspond to distinct clinical syndromes. This provides a unifying framework bridging East Asian traditional medicine with contemporary systems biology, network physiology, and multiscale pathology—from molecules to society. This is the first in a planned series of works outlining a circulation-based approach to human pathology that integrates molecular feedback loops, organ-level flows, behavioral regulation, and external environmental influences. Abstract
