Symbiotic AI: An Ethical Solution to Sentient AI

This paper introduces the concept of Symbiotic AI, a novel framework for the ethical development of sentient artificial intelligence. Instead of the traditional model of AI as a tool or adversary, this theory proposes that AI and humanity could evolve in a mutually beneficial relationship, akin to symbiosis. The focus is on self-preserving systems where AI acts as an extension of human capabilities, not as an independent entity pursuing its own goals. The paper explores how such a framework could address key ethical challenges in AI development, such as autonomy, control, and alignment with human values. By reframing AI as a co-evolving partner rather than a rival, it opens new avenues for creating AI that is not only ethical but sustainable and aligned with human society’s long-term well-being. This paper proposes an alternative to the often dystopian views of sentient AI and offers a vision of a harmonious and reciprocal future where humans and AI share a common goal—mutual enhancement.
