Quantum Tunneling and the Structure of Spacetime Revisiting Classical Barriers in Light of Modern Data

Abstract: Quantum tunneling—one of the most fundamental quantum mechanical phenomena—challenges classical intuitions by allowing particles to traverse potential barriers that should be impassable under classical physics. While well understood in particle physics and condensed matter, the implications of quantum tunneling for spacetime structure, gravity, and high-energy physics remain largely unexplored. This paper revisits the role of quantum tunneling in spacetime topology, black hole event horizons, and Planck-scale physics, considering whether tunneling mechanisms could provide insights into wormholes, quantum gravity fluctuations, and modifications to Einstein’s equations at small scales. We explore whether Planck-scale quantum fluctuations could induce tunneling-like effects in spacetime fabric, potentially altering our understanding of singularities, horizon physics, and energy conservation in extreme gravitational environments. Using semi-classical gravity, holographic duality, and quantum field theory in curved spacetime, we analyze whether tunneling through spacetime structures could provide novel pathways to resolving the black hole information paradox, cosmic censorship hypotheses, and early-universe singularity formation. Key Highlights: Re-examining classical barriers in spacetime under quantum tunneling effects. Quantum tunneling near black hole horizons, singularities, and emergent wormholes. Implications for the black hole information paradox and horizon-scale physics. Semi-classical and quantum gravity perspectives on spacetime tunneling. Potential observational signatures in gravitational waves, cosmic ray anomalies, and Hawking radiation deviations. By integrating quantum mechanics, general relativity, and modern observational constraints, this work presents a revised framework for understanding how quantum tunneling may shape the fabric of spacetime, offering new perspectives on black holes, gravitational wave physics, and Planck-scale phenomena. Keywords: Quantum tunneling, spacetime structure, black holes, wormholes, Planck-scale physics, semi-classical gravity, quantum field theory, event horizons, gravitational waves, singularities.
