A Study of Teaching Aptitude test among B.Ed. students of Shri Birendra Deepak Shiksha Mahavidyalaya
In the Good’s Dictionary of Education (1945) aptitude is described as a pronounced innate capacity for a ability in a given live of endeavor such as particular art school subject or vocation. This study investigates the teaching aptitude of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) students, focusing on their readiness and potential to engage effectively in the teaching profession. Given the pivotal role of teaching aptitude in shaping educational outcomes, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of future educators is crucial for curriculum development and instructional strategies in teacher training programs. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative assessments with qualitative insights. A structured questionnaire was administered to a sample of B.Ed. students across various institutions, measuring key components of teaching aptitude including pedagogical knowledge, communication skills, classroom management, and adaptability. In addition, focus group discussions and individual interviews provided deeper insights into students' self-perceptions and experiential learning. Results indicate a diverse range of teaching aptitudes among B.Ed. students, with notable strengths in theoretical understanding and enthusiasm for teaching. However, areas requiring further development were identified, particularly in practical classroom management and real-world application of pedagogical strategies. The study highlights the need for enhanced practical training components and ongoing support mechanisms within teacher education programs. This research contributes valuable data to the discourse on teacher preparedness and offers actionable recommendations for educators and policy makers aiming to optimize teacher training and support future educators in their professional journey.
