Microstructure and Immersion Corrosion study of stir-casted magnesium alloy AZ91 in 3.5 wt. % NaCl solution
Present study aimed to evaluate the corrosion properties of produced magnesium alloy AZ91 when immersed in 3.5 wt. % NaCl solution. Conventional and novel stir casting method was used to prepare magnesium alloy AZ91. The entire process was conducted under protective atmosphere of argon and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) mixture. Then the samples were subjected to T6-Ageing heat treatment. The stir-casted samples corrosion properties were analysed in the atmospheric condition. The XRD and SEM analysis were carried out to analyse the microstructure and surface morphology of samples.
