OPEN-LEGGED WOMEN AND BIRTHING SCENES. Representations at JABAL AL-KAWKAB in a global perspective
The research "OPEN-LEGGED WOMEN AND BIRTHING SCENES. Representations at JABAL AL-KAWKAB in a global perspective" was presented as part of the poster session during the international workshop "In the Foosteps of Ryckmans: European Cultural Heritage expeditions in Saudi Arabia (1850-1970)" on November 18-19, 2024. This conference united Saudi and European scholars, debating the impact of early European exploratory expeditions on our knowledge of pre-islamic history of the Arabian Peninsula. This research focused mainly on representations of women in the world, as petroglyphs, trying to bring context on those representations with four petroglyphs depicting open-legged women and one triangular vuvla, found at Jabal al-Kawkab rock.
