A Smart Laundry Service Platform: Design and Feasibility of an On-Demand Laundry Pickup and Drop-off App
This working paper presents the development of a smart, app-based laundry logistics platform designed to modernize how urban populations manage laundry tasks. Modeled after ride-hailing systems like Uber, the proposed system enables users to schedule laundry pickups or drop-offs through a mobile application, with logistics dynamically managed through a location-based backend. The concept aims to support the gig economy, enhance convenience for busy professionals, and reduce inefficiencies in traditional laundry services. This paper discusses the app’s design, system architecture, business model, and feasibility within emerging markets such as the Philippines, with potential for scalability in other urban regions, including the United States. The innovation contributes to digital transformation in service industries and supports localized employment opportunities, aligning with national interest goals such as economic modernization and tech-driven job creation.
