சஙக இலககயததல பணணயம / Feminism in the Sangam Literature
The themes of Sangam literature revolve around two main aspects. They are love and valour. Sangam Era poets presented nature as a backdrop for their imaginative and factual descriptions. It provides valuable information through the poems. The beloved or Thalaivi is a prominent figure in Sangam literature. She is revered for her exceptional qualities. Sangam women were known for their bravery and often shared the throne with kings. They lived with dignity and were adorned with beautiful jewellery. It is impossible to give a universal definition of feminism that applies to all societies in the world. Although there are many definitions of feminism, the general concept of Tamil feminism is to give equal rights for women at all levels of life. This research paper explores the concept of feminism in Sangam literature. It also highlights the feminist ideas that are instilled in the Sangam poems.
