Antenna: length of segments: 2–0.21, 3–0.29, 4–0.29, 5–0.20, 6–0.21, 7–0.19, 8–0.19, 9–0.30, 10–0.21, 11–0.30, width of segment 9–0.40. Pronotum: maximum length— 1.38; width at carina (= maximal width in this case)—2.13; minimum width—1.30. Elytra: maximum length—3.40; maximum width—2.40. Pygidium: maximum length—0.58; maximum width—0.75. Coloration of the cuticle of entire body greyish, upper and lateral side of head, including scrobes and mandibles, brown red. Scape, pedicel and antennomeres 3–4 light brown, the rest of antennomeres black. Labrum yellow. Femora dark brown, tibiae light brown, distal part of tibiae and tarsomeres black, claws dark brown. Vestiture. Dorsal and lateral part of head with yellowish appressed setae. Labrum with a few longer light-coloured setae in distal part (Figs 10, 15). Antennomeres 2–11 with distinct decumbent black setae (Figs 12, 17). Upper side of pronotum, including pronotal declivity, with sparse minute appressed light-coloured setae and with three distinct longitudinal stripes: one white in central part and two rusty in lateral part. Between these stripes are two indistinct stripes in basal part subsequent to elytral stripes on fourth elytral interval (Figs 11, 16). Elytra with very fine, delicate, indistinct and sparse appressed light-coloured setae, and with three longitudinal stripes: one white in sutural part and two rusty on the fourth and eight elytral intervals (Figs 9, 14). All legs covered with sparse appressed setae, tibiae with subdecumbent yellowish setae in inner part, tarsomeres with black setae (Figs 9, 14). Whole ventral part of body with indistinct setae, pygidium covered with dense appressed brown setae. Structure. Head (Figs 10, 15) rather shorter, rostrum wider than long, ratio of rostrum length to maximum width 0.73. Rostrum flat in lateral view. Lateral sides of rostrum weakly extended apically. Rostrum with one central longitudinal carina and two indistinct disappearing lateral carinae. Central carina delicate, not extended distal part of rostrum and reaching vertex behind posterior margin of eyes. Dorsum of rostrum with wide shallow depression, in this area central carina somewhat widened. Whole dorsal part of head coarsely wrinkled, wrinkling rather longitudinal. Eyes almost oval, not emarginate, only weakly truncate anteriorly, dorsal ocular index 1.38. Ratio of maximum width across eyes to maximum width of rostrum 1.08. Antennae (Figs 12, 17) reaching to posterior margin of pronotum. Scape not swollen, of the same width as pedicel, antennomeres 3–11 flattened, gradually widened and fluently continue to antennal club. Antennomeres 1–5 longer than wide, 6–11 transverse, ratio of its maximum length to maximum width: 6 (0.87), 7 (0.56), 8 (0.50), 9 (0.75), 10 (0.33), 11 (0.85). Pronotum (Figs 11, 16) transverse, ratio of its length to maximum width 0.65, the widest in dorsal transverse carina, then narrowed to distal part, sides of pronotum conical. Disc of pronotum convex, without any imprint. Dorsal transverse carina distinctly bisinuate, not interrupted in middle. Lateral carinae of pronotum short, not reaching half of length of pronotum, widely rounded at contact with dorsal transverse carina. Elytra (Figs 9, 14) rather short, without sub-basal tubercles, ratio of the maximum length to maximum width of elytra 1.42. Elytral intervals completely flat, dorsal punctures very small and inconspicuous, their diameter much smaller than distance of individual punctures. Claws with teeth. Pygidium transverse, ratio of the maximum length to maximum width 0.77. Male. Unknown. Variability. The two known female specimens are almost identical, but the holotype does not have such a distinctive pattern as the paratype. Etymology. Patronym, dedicated to Vladimír Štrunc (Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, Czech Republic). Collecting circumstances (Figs 19–20). Diastatotropis strunci was found in Mantadia National Park located ca. 100 km (by air) W of Antananarivo, Toamasina province. Mantadia is covered with medium altitude moist evergreen forest, dominated by a relatively cool, humid climate, and with no typical dry season. For more details see Goodman et al. (2018a). Both specimens of D. strunci were collected in a disturbed place on the edge of the forest on dead wood with branches of a diameter less than 5 cm. Distribution. Eastern Madagascar, Toamasina province. The species is only known from the type locality Mantadia National Park (Fig. 21). Differential diagnosis. Diastatotropis strunci (female only, male unknown)has gradually widened antennomeres, which widen from antennomere 3. Such a shape of the antennae is hitherto exceptional in all known species of this genus and was previously known only in the female of D. crassicornis Waterhouse, 1882. However, the two species are very different from each other. D. crassicornis has the rostrum significantly longer than wider, with three carinae; pronotum more or less as long as wide, dorsal transverse carina of pronotum sinuated (not bisinuate); color of upper surface of the body monochromatic greenish; size much bigger (ca. 15.0 mm).
