india's Telecom Race
India’s telecom sector has evolved from a government monopoly (pre-1984) to one of the world’s most competitive markets. The introduction of Reliance Jio in 2016 disrupted the industry by reducing data costs and increasing broadband penetration. Before Jio’s entry, India's average data consumption per user was 600 MB/month, which surged to over 10 GB/month post-Jio’s launch. This shift reshaped consumer behavior and forced competitors to lower prices and upgrade networks. However, challenges remain, including poor network coverage in rural areas, inconsistent internet speeds, high service costs, and regulatory barriers. This research investigates these issues through a structured survey and industry analysis.
