Construindo Capacidade em Ciência Cidadã: Dados, Informações e Conhecimentos na Construção e Partilha do Saber

When seeking to build the capacity to conduct citizen science research, the dimensions of data, information, and knowledge are essential. These dimensions support the analysis of "knowledge building and sharing," central to what we call "citizen science". To analyze these dimensions solidly, it is necessary to establish common points regarding other underlying issues. To consider these points, I propose the following questions in this essay: "Citizen science for whom? What types of data are used by scientists and participants? What is data literacy, and why is it important in citizen science? What is the role of digital platforms and software in data collection and analysis? How do we analyze, visualize, and manage complex data? And what are the benefits and perspectives of citizen science?" This essay does not aim to provide exhaustive or definitive answers to these questions but to contextualize them based on practical situations.
