Nautarachna crassa

Nautarachna crassa (Koenike, 1908) Material examined. Portugal, Guarda • Manteigas, Casa do Cantoneiro, 40.418°N, 7.603°W, 1378 m a.s.l., 24 Aug. 2023, leg. Ferreira, Benitez-Bosco & Padilha, 1 ♀ (sequenced). Remarks. The sequenced female of N. crassa from Portugal forms a distinct BIN (BOLD: AFV 0462). The p - distance between the specimen from Portugal and the barcode of a N. crassa specimen (MMHYD 270-20) collected in Norway, is estimated at 16.7 %, indicating the need for a taxonomic revision of N. crassa complex to identify possible undescribed cryptic species. Distribution. Europe; widespread but here reported for the first time for the water mite fauna of Portugal.
