GENDER-RESPONSIVE TEACHING METHODS OF TOURISM MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT FACULTY AT CAPIZ STATE UNIVERSITY SIGMA SATELLITE COLLEGE
This study investigates the impact of gender-responsive teaching methods in the Tourism Management Department at Capiz State University Sigma Satellite College, aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of current practices in fostering gender inclusivity. Employing a descriptive and quantitative research design, structured surveys were distributed to 217 tourism management students, yielding 201 responses. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential tests to assess students' perceptions of gender-responsive teaching methods. Key findings indicate a neutral overall perception of these methods, highlighting the need for enhanced faculty training to improve the integration of inclusivity in classroom settings. Additionally, both classroom setups and learning materials received neutral ratings, suggesting significant room for improvement in creating a more inclusive educational environment. Notably, the analysis revealed significant differences in perceptions based on students' gender and year level, emphasizing the necessity of considering socio-demographic factors when evaluating and implementing gender-responsive teaching strategies. These results advocate for tailored interventions and curriculum adjustments to promote gender equality and enhance teaching effectiveness, aligning with existing educational recommendations. To address these gaps, it is recommended that Capiz State University Sigma Satellite College invest in comprehensive teacher training programs to better equip educators with the skills needed to foster inclusive practices and effectively address gender-related issues within their classrooms.
