Exploring Coexistence and Environmental Harmony: An Eco-Critical Analysis of The Wild Robot
This research article explores the themes of coexistence and environmental harmony in Peter Brown’s novel The Wild Robot. As an American children’s science fiction novel, it delves into the integration of technology into the natural world through the journey of Roz, a robot who evolves from being a mechanical outsider to becoming an integral member of a forest ecosystem. Applying eco-critical theory, the study examines how the novel challenges the conventional notion that technology is inherently harmful to nature. Instead, it presents an alternative perspective that, when ethically guided, technology can contribute positively to environmental sustainability. Foundational eco-critical scholars such as Cheryll Glotfelty and Lawrence Buell provide a theoretical framework for this analysis.
