Acaridae Latreille 1802

ACARIDAE Latreille, 1802 Acaridae is a large family with 113 genera and many species. So far five species have been found on Passalidae: Passaloglyphus rosickyi, Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Schrank, 1781), nea r Forcellinia sp., Histiogaster sp. and Sancassania sp. (two specimens – perhaps belonging to two different species) and they were collected from Passalus maillei Percheron, 1841, Odontotaenius striatopunctatus (Percheron, 1836), O. zodiacus (Turqui, 1857), Passalus sp. and Popilius sp. (Mahunka and Samšiňák 1972; Delfinado and Baker 1975; Villegas-Guzmán et al. 2008; Barrios-Torres and Villegas-Guzman 2015) (Tables 2, 4 and 7). The relationships of mites from this family with Passalidae are poorly known.
