Development of a Platform-independent Modeling Language for Robotics Process Automation

In this work, an approach to platform-independent modeling of Robotics Process Automation (RPA) processes is developed. The starting point is a modeling language that is created within ADOxx. With this modeling language, it is possible to develop RPA process models independently from any software provider. The goal is then to be able to transfer a created model into a desired RPA software such as UiPath or Blue Prism. To achieve this, a script is developed which translates an ADOxx process model into a usable format for either RPA solution. The final solution consists of a desktop application in which an ADOxx model can be translated into either a UiPath or a Blue Prism process model. From there, further developments can be made in Blue Prism or UiPath to fully automate the process. The work successfully demonstrates how RPA processes can be modeled in a platform-independent way and used in different RPA environments. This represents an important step towards a more flexible and efficient use of RPA in different software environments. However, the prototype consists only of the most important and basic RPA actions. Therefore, more extensions and optimization of the developed prototype are necessary in order to make the product usable in real scenarios.
