Creating A Strategy for Digital Transformation
Technology is a critical asset for organisations. A digital strategy is needed to ensure that organisations deliver the required objectives. It is important to maintain and update these plans to ensure that technology is utilised correctly, given the prevailing environment. Failure to do so could lead to suboptimal delivery of products and services as well as other organisations obtaining a competitive advantage, causing a relative decline. The creation of a strategy for digital transformation is the subject of this paper. This comprises exploratory research using a literature review and practitioner interviews to gain a perspective on the topic, via thematic analysis of the collected data. The organisation needs to consider both the internal and external environments, namely the digital context, regarding digital transformation projects, such as cloud migration. The requirement to address the personnel aspect is a critical item. Key activities are recommended, in respect of these projects, to enable organisations to formulate a strategy for their digital transformation projects and potentially avoid digital failure in this sphere. KEYWORDS: Digital strategy; Digital transformation; Cloud migration; Digital context; Digital failure.
