KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTITUDE ON CLIENT SAFETY DURING CLINICAL DUTY OF BSN STUDENTS

This study emphasizes how critical nursing education is to producing skilled healthcare workers who are dedicated to patient safety. Focusing on the transition phase for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students, the study highlights obstacles such as connecting academic knowledge with practical application, limited hands-on experience, and exposure to various clinical scenarios. Conducted in Quezon City, Philippines, the research evaluates how Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes correspond with patient safety criteria, in line with national educational benchmarks. Through a descriptive correlational research approach including 200 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students, the study investigates interactions within healthcare settings, attempting to uncover difficulties and solutions. The study explores the professional development of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students, emphasizing the integration of theoretical and practical knowledge as critical to building competence in patient safety. According to findings, BSN students show substantial knowledge (4.28/5) and skills (4.45/5) in ensuring client safety, demonstrating proficiency in patient safety tasks. Their attitudes toward patient safety are also positive, aligning with research that shows a strong link between perceived competence and safer practices. However, common issues affecting patient rights were identified, with frequent compromises on the "Right Time," "Right Dose," "Right Medication," "Right Patient Education," and "Right Patient." This highlights systemic challenges, such as scheduling issues or information gaps, which may affect patient safety and care quality.
