THE ROLE OF HORMONAL REGULATION IN OVULATION INDUCTION AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF GONADOTROPINS VERSUS CLOMIPHENE CITRATE IN WOMEN WITH ANOVULATORY DISORDERS
Anovulatory disorders, a leading cause of infertility in women, necessitate ovulation induction for successful conception. Hormonal regulation plays a crucial role in this process, with gonadotropins and Clomiphene Citrate (CC) being two primary pharmacological interventions. While CC is widely used as a first-line therapy, gonadotropins offer a more aggressive yet effective alternative. This paper examines the mechanisms of hormonal regulation in ovulation induction, compares the effectiveness of gonadotropins versus CC, and presents recent literature on the subject. The findings suggest that gonadotropins lead to higher ovulation and pregnancy rates but carry an increased risk of multiple pregnancies and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Meanwhile, CC remains the preferred initial treatment due to its cost-effectiveness and ease of administration. The study concludes that treatment selection should be individualized based on patient characteristics and clinical history.
