Vietnam From COP26 – From Commitment to Actions, Cutting-Edge Solutions for a Sustainable Energy Transition and Technology Innovation at Vietnam Electricity (EVN)
In recent years, in the context that fossil energy sources are increasingly depleted, along with the issues of climate change becoming increasingly urgent, the energy transition, especially the energy transition in the electricity industry, has been getting more and more attention. In 2021, at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, as known as COP26 for short, Vietnam, one of the countries most affected by climate change, participated in the Global Declaration on the transition from coal to green power and considers this point as an important orientation toward a low-carbon economy and green growth in the coming decades. Accordingly, the Draft Power Master Plan VIII has been issued with the goal of reducing dependence on coal-fired power plants, giving high priority to renewable energy development with reasonable structure and distribution and having over 75% renewable energy in the whole country by 2045.
