Emotional education has occupied a secondary place in Colombian education. Although efforts have been made to educate citizens, institutional efforts have not been sufficient. This article proposes a reflection on the articulation between emotional education and the civilizing process, concretizing the reflection in the Colombian case and proposing a possible alternative for emotional education in the coming decades.
