DYNAMICS OF CHANGES IN THE CONCENTRATION OF CAROTENOIDS AND CHLOROPHYLL DURING CULTIVATION OF MICROALGAE DUNALIELLA SALINA UNDER VARIOUS CONDITIONS OF LIGHTING AND NaCl CONCENTRATION
Abstract The present study is dedicated to how the amounts of carotenoids and chlorophyll changed in the microalga Dunaliella salina found that lighting conditions and the amount of NaCl had a big impact on their contents. We observe an increase in carotenoids synthesis at high illumination, which is associated with the photoprotective function. An increase in the concentration of NaCl also stimulates the formation of carotenoids that adapt cells to stress conditions. In contrast, the concentration of chlorophyll decreases at high NaCl concentrations, indicating a decrease in photosynthetic activity. These results emphasize the importance of optimizing cultivation conditions to increase biomass and target metabolites.
