PERINATAL LESIONS OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM (PLNS) OF NEWBORNS BORN TO MOTHERS WITH COVID-19
To investigate the peculiarities of CNS lesions in newborn children born to mothers with Covid-19. Materials and Methods. Sixty-two newborn children of different gestational age (28-42 weeks) were examined. All newborns were divided into the following groups: the main group 1 consisted of 30 (48.3%) newborn children born from mothers with Covid-19 and the comparison group 2 consisted of 32 (51.6%) newborn children born from mothers who had undergone COVID-19 during pregnancy. Clinical-instrumental and statistical methods of research were performed. Results. Children born to mothers with COVID-19 at birth have a lower gestational age, more often had a lower Apgar score at birth, and were born in a state of severe asphyxia. They are more likely to be at risk for oppression syndrome, seizure syndrome, behavioral-visceral dysfunction and hydrocephalus. Analysis has shown that the most profound changes in brain structures occur in newborn children whose mothers had a severe coronavirus infection at the time of delivery. The frequency of brain damage due to hypoxia and ischemia was found to be high among the examined children and to be a background for other brain lesions. However, hemorrhagic brain lesions with prevalence of II degree IVH on the background of previous hypoperfusion of brain tissue under conditions of impaired autoregulation are more frequent among newborn children born from mothers with COVID 19.
