Culturally-Aware AI: Designing Ethical Decision-Making Systems That Adapt to Regional Norms and Values
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of decision-making processes across various industries. However, most AI ethical frameworks reflect generalized or Western-centric values, often disregarding cultural nuances. This paper proposes a novel approach to designing culturally-aware AI systems capable of adapting their ethical decision-making processes to align with regional norms and values. The proposed framework integrates cultural data to enhance AI’s contextual understanding, ensuring more equitable and acceptable outcomes in diverse environments. This interdisciplinary research bridges computer science, anthropology, and ethics to address an underexplored aspect of AI governance.
