Microencapsulation in textile finishing

There are innumerable advances witnessed in the field of clothing and textile during the past few decades. Finishing is a casual term used for the journey of grey clothes which undergoes plentiful treatments and processes for final acceptance in consumer market. There are some advanced technologies introduced in the field of textile finishing that includes surface enrichment through microencapsulation, functionalization using nano technology and UV protective finishing etc. By witnessing these innovative techniques, it is clear that addition of any desirable properties to any fabric is almost possible. Although there are number of advanced functional technologies the author briefly discusses the microencapsulation technology in the current paper. Microencapsulation has wider scope in almost all relevant arenas of present consumer’s lifestyle. A little light is thrown on various methods of microcapsule formation, method of application and end usage.
