Trematuridae Berlese 1917
TREMATURIDAE Berlese, 1917 Trematuridae is a large family with about 400 species belonging to six genera. Only five species were collected from Passalidae: Trichouropoda alcahupasi Hiramatsu and Hirschmann, 1988, T. aschantiana WiŚniewski and Hirschmann 1988, T. guanabarae Hirschmann and WiŚniewski, 1987, T. tchadensis WiŚniewski and Hirschmann, 1993, all from unidentified Passalidae, and T. ovalis (C.L. Koch, 1839) from Odontotaenius zodiacus and Nenteria sp. from O. striatopunctatus (Hirschmann and WiŚniewski 1987, 1988; WiŚniewski and Hirschmann 1993; Barrios-Torres and Villegas-Guzmám 2015) (Tables 2– 9). Trematuridae of the genus Trichouropoda Berlese, 1916 have been found on various insects, especially Brenthidae, Cerambycidae and Curculionidae, but Passalidae are rare hosts to them.
