Sanitation and hygiene practices among government college students
Abstract: Sanitation and hygiene are critical aspects of maintaining health, particularly in communal environments such as colleges and universities. This study explores sanitation and hygiene practices among college students, focusing on personal hygiene, sanitation facilities usage, and overall cleanliness habits. A mixed-method approach, involving surveys and interviews, was employed to gather data from a diverse group of students across various disciplines. Findings indicate that while students generally understand the importance of hygiene, actual practices often fall short, particularly in areas such as handwashing, restroom cleanliness, and food safety. Barriers to optimal hygiene include lack of awareness, time constraints, and insufficient sanitation facilities. The study concludes with recommendations for improving hygiene education and infrastructure on college campuses to foster better health outcomes.
