Entrusting the TRUST Principles: Adoption Challenges Uncovered

The RDA/WDS TRUST Principles Outreach and Adoption Working Group aims to clarify the complementary relationship between TRUST Principles for digital repositories, certification processes, and metrics of other principal frameworks (e.g. FAIR, CARE, Desirable Characteristics, Data Repository Attributes). TRUST is not a criterion for certification. Instead, it offers foundational principles for how digital repositories can pursue and demonstrate their trustworthiness to users and other community members. The TRUST Principles offer inspiration and direction for repositories that seek to improve the stewardship of their collections and the quality of their services. Working group co-chair Meredith Goins of the World Data System, will share an update on the working group’s activities this year to include: A summary of topics presented by invited guest speakers and collected use cases on how repositories, entities and certifying bodies such as CoreTrustSeal and ISO 16363 relate to the TRUST Principles An analysis of survey responses from repositories all over the world A newly released Wikipedia page on the TRUST Principle Finally, the supporting outputs and the final RDA recommendation for the Working Group will be introduced and offered for feedback from the audience.
