Advancing Gene Therapy for Glioblastoma: Cutting-Edge Strategies and Precision Delivery in Neurosurgical Oncology
This research project explores the latest advancements in gene therapy as a novel approach to treating glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), one of the most aggressive and treatment-resistant brain tumors. It focuses on cutting-edge gene-editing tools, including CRISPR-Cas9, prime editing, and base editing, highlighting their potential for precisely targeting GBM at the molecular level. The project delves into innovative delivery methods such as nanoparticles, oncolytic viruses, and non-invasive intranasal techniques to overcome the challenges posed by the blood-brain barrier. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of combination therapies and personalized gene therapy approaches tailored to the genetic profiles of individual tumors. With a focus on the clinical and translational aspects of gene therapy in neurosurgical oncology, this work aims to provide neurosurgeons with actionable insights for integrating gene therapies into multimodal treatment plans for GBM patients, ultimately improving survival rates and patient outcomes.
