THE IMPACT OF LEARNING ENVIRONMENT ON DEVELOPING LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL LEARNERS
The development of linguistic competence is fundamental to a child’s overall academic and cognitive growth, particularly in the primary school years. A supportive and engaging learning environment plays a key role in shaping children’s language skills. This article explores how various aspects of the learning environment—such as the physical setup of the classroom, teacher-student interactions, peer relationships, and available resources—affect the linguistic development of primary school learners. It discusses how these elements foster language acquisition, vocabulary development, and communication abilities. The findings suggest that a well-designed learning environment, coupled with effective instructional strategies, can significantly enhance linguistic competence and contribute to students’ confidence, engagement, and academic success.
