The novel narrates the stories and the different points of view of Eve, Sadiq, Clelio and Savita, the protagonists, and narrators of the story. It recounts the events that lead to Savita’s death and what follows. This thesis analyses Ève de ses décombres to describe how, through her writing that uses specific scriptural techniques, Devi manages to reach her readers. Not only does the author take advantage of language resources to include the island in the narration, but she also achieves to raise, in a very relevant way the problem of the social contingencies that define the island and the ideology that underlies these contingencies. It is through the analysis of the social discourse and the ideology of the novel that the thesis intends to highlight the realities that the realistic style that the novel offers to be read. Secondly, the study highlights the binary thought, a product of the colonial era of the country, which organizes the novel, thus opening a debate about identity regarding the portraits of each of the four characters whose positions plead for a broader and more inclusive acceptance, for an emancipation of the female subject in particular.
