Performance Assessment of Novel Solar Energy Systems for Aged Neighbourhoods and Buildings in Dutch Cities

This paper presents a position paper in the framework of the HERITAGE project of the Dutch 4TU Federation. The HERITAGE, 'Heat Robustness in Relation to Ageing Cities' is an innovative project initiated by the Dutch 4TU Federation that aims to address urban overheating in Dutch cities through innovative strategies, including integration of solar energy systems to enhance the overall quality of urban life. This position paper is related to a PhD project that explores the use of photovoltaic (PV) systems in the built environment as a method for urban heat mitigation. Also, a brief literature review is presented, and suggestions for research to be executed in the coming years. Among the primary areas of focus are the development of integrated designs for solar energy systems in buildings and the evaluation of the operational performance of new solar technologies.
