Παρατηρήσεις στο εικονογραφικό θέμα της Kεφαλοφόρου Aγίας Παρασκευής σε μνημεία της Βουλγαρίας του 17ου αιώνα

Observations on the Iconographic Theme of the Head-bearing Saint Paraskevi in Monuments of 17th Century Bulgaria The article examines the origin of the iconography of Saint Paraskevi holding her severed head and its spread across Bulgarian lands in the 17th century. It presents a hagiographical icon of the saint from Tarnovo, along with several smaller ones from the Plovdiv area. The closest parallels to these icons can be found in the regions of Northwestern Macedonia, Epirus, and Southern Albania, where this specific theme in the saint's iconography first appeared and spread. Through the work of the icon painters from the Linotopi workshop, as well as their assistants who came to work or settle in the areas of Veliko Tarnovo, Arbanasi, and Plovdiv, this theme was also brought to Bulgarian lands.
