Gender and Displacement Art Exhibition

As a lifelong visual artist and passionate advocate for refugees, Aleena was inspired to use her human rights capstone to amplify the perspectives of displaced women through art. She interviewed women around the world with lived experience of forced displacement and drew portraits of several, displaying these for the Stanford community and public in an art exhibition at the Center for Human Rights and International Justice from May to June 2025. In presenting this project, Anand’s aim was to highlight both the compounded vulnerabilities and remarkable resilience of women and girls forced to flee. Student project deposited by department for archival purposes. Original work unavailable for public download due to permission restriction preferences of the author.
