Proceedings of the Inaugural Symposium of the John A. Blume Earthquake Engineering Center
The Inaugural Symposium of the John A. Blume Earthquake Engineering Center was held at Stanford University on Friday, September 17, 1976. Over 450 engineers and scientists attended the Symposium, which consisted of lectures by distinguished persons, laboratory tours and demonstrations, the Inaugural "ribbon-cutting," and an evening banquet. These Proceedings contain the talks given by the lecturers and also serve as a record of the other activities which occurred. The quality of the lectures was outstanding, and they were received with enthusiasm by the audience. We wish to express our thanks and gratitude to the speakers: George Housner, Emilio Rosenblueth, Harry Seed, Henry Degenkolb, Dick Jahns, John Blume, and Nate Newmark. Their talks made the Symposium a success.
