Carbon Dioxide-Ethanol Mixtures at Supercritical Conditions with X-ray optical access
Procedure to create a well-controlled CO2-ethanol mixture and bring it up to a supercritical state (high temperature and pressure) within an x-ray optical cell. The mixture is prepared within a heated and stirred high pressure vessel to ensure dilution of the two components, and then transferred to the high pressure cell. In this cell, the sample of fluid is maintained at a constant temperature and pressure condition, within a cavity closed by two thin diamond wafers which allow the transmission of femtosecond x-ray pulses to perform x-ray scattering measurements (see Muhunthan, Li, Vignat, et al., A versatile pressure-cell design for studying ultrafast molecular-dynamics in supercritical fluids using coherent multi-pulse X-ray scattering, Review of Scientific Instrument (2024), doi: 10.1063/5.0158497 for more details).
