Modern Physics for Engineers Lecture slides 18a – Entropy and temperature

In this lecture part, entropy is defined in terms of the logarithm of the multiplicity. Based on what maximizes the multiplicity in thermal equilibration, and hence what maximizes entropy, in turn that leads to a definition of temperature in terms of entropy. An example system is shown. (slides)
