An Analysis of Success in Supply Chain Management for Construction Projects: Fuzzy Inference System Application
This paper presents a framework for assessing the practicality of supply chain management (SCM) in residential construction projects in Shiraz, Iran, through an examination of critical success factors. These factors are categorized into soft factors and hard factors. Soft factors include cultural elements (organizational culture, communication and trust, and participation and teamwork) and managerial elements (leadership support and commitment, customer orientation, and human resources management). Hard factors comprise purchase and quality management, information technology, and risk management. Fuzzy logic offers a rational approach for categorizing and assessing the critical success factors. Through fuzzy inference systems, the adaptability and speed of soft computation are amplified, offering a sophisticated means to handle imprecise data. The research Findings suggest that the effectiveness of SCM is primarily determined by hard factors, particularly risk management. The study ranks constituent elements of both soft and hard factors, providing valuable insights for construction project managers in Shiraz, Iran, emphasizing investment in IT, quality purchase management, and risk management.
