Concerned Photography: Testing Journalism ethics through a social documentary lens
The issues of the 21st century are not new issues, but the way we disseminate information is often shared through a narrow point of view. Oftentimes, journalists isolate individual problems and miss the mark of giving depth to understanding how they intersect with one another. This thesis project uses social documentary as a tool to experiment with art and journalism to inform the public on mental healthcare in the carceral system and push the boundaries of traditional journalism.
