Real-Time Wireless\nSensing of Cardiomyocyte Contractility\nby Integrating Magnetic Microbeam and Oriented Nanofibers

In vitro cardiomyocyte mechano-sensing platform is crucial\nfor\nevaluating the mechanical performance of cardiac tissues and will\nbe an indispensable tool for application in drug discovery and disease\nmechanism study. Magnetic sensing offers significant advantages in\nreal-time, in situ wireless monitoring and resistance to ion interference.\nHowever, due to the mismatch between the stiffness of traditional\nrigid magnetic material and myocardial tissue, sensitivity is insufficient\nand it is difficult to achieve cell structure induction and three-dimensional\ncultivation. Herein, a magnetic sensing platform that integrates a\nneodymium–iron–boron/polydimethylsiloxane (NdFeB/PDMS)\nflexible microbeam with suspended and ordered polycaprolactone (PCL)\nnanofiber membranes was developed, providing a three-dimensional anisotropic\nculture environment for cardiomyocyte growth and simultaneously realizing\nin situ wireless contractility monitoring. The as-prepared sensor\npresented an ultrahigh sensitivity of 442.2 μV/μm and\na deflection resolution of 2 μm. By continuously monitoring\nthe cardiomyocyte growth status and drug stimulation feedback, we\nverified the capability of the platform to capture dynamic changes\nin cardiomyocyte contractility. This platform provides a perspective\ntool for evaluating cardiomyocyte maturity and drug performance.
