Erroneous Reporting in a Multiple Antenna-Based Cognitive Radio Network Using Soft Fusion Scheme

This paper analyzes the potency of a multiple antenna-based cognitive radio (CR) network, wherein each unlicensed CR user is equipped with multiple antennas. A common receiver detects a licensed primary user's signal using both the soft fusion scheme and a conventional energy detector, considering error-prone reporting channels. Furthermore, for the proposed CR network, we derive expressions for the probability of missed detection and false-alarm. Thereafter, we present the optimal soft fusion problem. Subsequently, we illustrate the theoretical findings of the proposed CR network through numerical results, demonstrating that the CR network with multiple antennas outperforms a single-antenna CR network in terms of decision error probability.
