Abstract

Electrochemical water splitting provides a prospective\nroute for\nhydrogen production, and the design of advanced dual-functional catalysts\nwith exceptional activity and affordable cost is imperative yet challenging.\nIn this study, we propose a rational strategy to fabricate the Pt-anchored\nNiFe layered double hydroxide (LDH) on carbon cloth (Pt/LDH/CC) by\na mild solvothermal process and an in situ reduction strategy. The\nincorporation of Pt rationally regulates the electronic properties\nof NiFe-LDH and further affects the electrocatalytic ability. Benefiting\nfrom the synergy between two components and the nanosheet array morphology,\nthe obtained Pt/LDH shows enhanced electrocatalytic activity and stability\nin the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction\n(OER). Moreover, when assembled in a two-electrode system, Pt/LDH\nalso displays exceptional catalytic capacity (possesses a small voltage\nof 1.557 V at 10 mA cm–2) and remarkable stability\nin electrochemical water splitting. This work offers a feasible pathway\nto develop cost-effective dual-functional catalysts for water electrolysis.
