Characterizations of PM Synchronous Motor With an Integrated Common-Mode Voltage Filter Considering Assignment of Motor Windings
Due to the utilization of high-frequency switching devices, the high-frequency common-mode voltage (CMV) will be inevitable in the motor drive system. This CMV may lead to damage in the bearings and motor windings, and the induced common-mode leakage current may falsely trigger relay devices and cause electromagnetic interference (EMI) propagation. Compared with common hardware solutions to reduce CMV, a compact design of a CMV filter with lightweight and smaller size is a promising approach, especially for the high-frequency and high-reliability drives of aviation applications. In this article, the drive system performance with the integrated filter is investigated. First, an analytical model considering motor inductance and CMV filter is developed. Based on this model, CMV reduction and the overall performance of the system with different segment assignments are analyzed. The effectiveness of the integrated filter with different windings segment allocations is validated through both simulation results and experimental data.
