Synthesis and Characterization\nof Multifunctional\nFluorescent-Magnetic Platinum Nanoclusters
There is great interest in the development of new multifunctional\nfluorescent-magnetic nanomaterials for use as multimodal diagnostic\nimaging probes and site-specific drug delivery tools. Metal nanoclusters\n(NCs) have been reported to possess either fluorescent or magnetic\nproperties, but not both. In this paper, we report the synthesis and\ncharacterization of multifunctional fluorescent-magnetic Pt NCs. Our\nsynthesized NCs (0.8 ± 0.2 nm in diameter) exhibit both bright\nred fluorescence (excitation: 535 nm, emission: 620 nm) and ferromagnetic\nbehavior with hysteresis, which represents a noteworthy and significant\nadvance in the development of Pt NCs. Our findings suggest the potential\nof our NCs to be applied in multimodal fluorescent-magnetic nanomaterials\nfor biomedical applications.
