In2O3‑TiO2 Composites for CO2 Photothermocatalytic\nValorization

Morphologically controlled indium oxide nanocubes were\nsynthesized,\ncontacted with pure anatase nanoparticles, and used in the dual photothermocatalytic\nvalorization of carbon dioxide. The series of samples with an indium\noxide loading up to 20 wt % were subjected to a detailed physicochemical\nanalysis. The catalysts synthesized are high surface area mesoporous\nmaterials. Interface effects coming from the contact between the two\noxide components were analyzed and found to control the charge carrier\nrecombination taking place under illumination. The catalytic activity\nunder dual photothermo conditions showed optimum profit of the combination\nof the two energy sources with a sample having a 10 wt % of indium\noxide. This sample shows a synergistic use of the dual excitation\nwith an excess of ca. 50% as measured by the reaction rate. This excess\nappears at the top of the literature. The synergy observed would be\nlinked with the optoelectronic effects controlled by the oxide–oxide\ninterface.

Abstract

Morphologically controlled indium oxide nanocubes were\nsynthesized,\ncontacted with pure anatase nanoparticles, and used in the dual photothermocatalytic\nvalorization of carbon dioxide.
